BEAUTY FIND: Colour Pop Liquid Lipsticks

img_0269

When ColourPop flashed the most exciting news on their Instagram that they are offering free international shipping for a day (which meant you only had to pay for your shopping total)I got super excited and gazed at every single shade of lipsticks and eye shadows on their website because I simply couldn’t decide what to add in my cart. ColourPop sure has got a variety of shades but I decided to go for Calypso which is a nude shade and More Better which is maroon. Call it the gut feeling or what but I didn’t want to go crazy with the shopping and I am so happy I stuck to my decision.

When I tried these lipsticks I wasn’t completely satisfied with the formula. It tends to dry on your lips. The colour stays for a while but it turns flaky. The formula is watery and sometimes it bleeds from the lower lips. It costed me only $6 each but the packaging seems high end. There is no doubt that they are absolutely weightless but lots of lip prep is a must before application. I mostly use the Nuxe Dry Oil or any lip balm 5 minutes before application.

The wear time is amazing but does not look attractive at all because the formula is so dry.

Finally at the end of the day when it is time to remove your makeup, Colour Pop lipstick sitting on your lips will make you realise that it was your biggest mistake ever to buy it because it takes intense rubbing to remove it and you wouldn’t wanna spend so much time cleaning your makeup when you are tired.

Bag Makeover

Gorgeous, chunky and bold inter-changeable bag straps are taking the fashion world by storm. Designers are doing a great job with the unique eye catching designs that can give a new life to any old bag.

That is a wonderful idea, absolutely! When you invest in a designer luxe bag and get over it after a few months you really do feel bad to ignore it after the hefty amount you’ve paid to own it. These inter changeable bag straps will change the whole look of your bag and make it seem like you have just returned from Saks with a new Fendi baby. How awesome is that?

You should be able to find them in any ladies fashion brand outlet at a mall or nordstrom.com has a huge variety of stylish bag straps.

If your over used handbag is lying in some odd corner then you know what to do-

It’s Makeover Time!

Sinful Hot Chocolate

After I had the Hot Chocolate at the celebrated Angelina cafè I have been dying to have it again but I don’t see it happening anytime soon so I tried to recreate the recipe which more or less tastes exactly like the signature hot chocolate at Angelina. I love it! I can never forget my first sip. It is decadent, utterly dark and rich. Since winter is round the corner you can try this and have a cozy evening.

Ingredients:

1 and a half cups Whole Milk

1/2 cup Heavy Cream

2 teaspoons powdered sugar

8 ounces chopped Dark Chocolate

1/2 tsp Espresso Powder

Method:

In a saucepan whisk milk, heavy cream, sugar and espresso powder over medium heat until you see little bubbles forming.

Remove the saucepan from heat and add the chopped chocolate to it and whisk well until the chocolate melts completely. You can return the pan to low heat if the chocolate is not melting easily.

Serve with marshmallows or whipped cream.

It is my personal favourite and I would really recommend it to all my fellow chocolate lovers. Give it a try and let me know how you liked it.

Bare It With Baré

For a while now I have been only trying simple home remedies for my oily skin but nothing has really worked on me so I decided to go for something natural and botanical.
Enter Baré Alchemy Ambrosio Cleanse.

Apart from the fact that it comes in a beautiful glass bottle that looks the prettiest on your dresser, it works like magic making your skin less oilier and smoother in just two weeks. However, if your skin is too acne prone then you might need extra help.

Application:

I use the wand from the bottle to apply the serum on my cleansed face and neck and I slowly massage it into my skin before bedtime (although you can use it anytime of the day but I let it rest on my face and work overnight).

As simple as that!

Benefits:

The serum contains extracts from precious botanical oils and fruits, Kakadu Plum which is rich in Vitamin C, Argan Oil and Oat Bran Kernel Flour that together reduce acne, black heads, tighten pores and reduce visible aging making skin look more radiant and smoother than before.

This particular serum works best for oily skin but Baré has something for every skin type. So if you have Normal ,Dry or Sensitive you can check out the other products on their website.

www.barealchemy.com

Price:

It will cost you $90 for a 45 ml bottle but it will easily last you for a couple of months. You can order it online. They pack it really well for you so you don’t have to live in fear until the bottle arrives because practically there is no chance of receiving a broken bottle at all.

Thank you Baré for helping me bare my skin confidently. 😊

Share this post if you would love your friends to know about the Baré Alchemy Serum.

Potato Tarts

Potato Tarts

When I am studying I constantly need to snack on junk to save myself from boredom. However this time I tried something healthy which turned out to be extremely delish. I found plain tart shells at Marks and Spencers but was very confused with the filling options. There was a huge conflict in my mind between savoury tarts or sweet tarts but I guess I was in a mood for a some spicy something so I gave Potato Tarts a try. They look amazing right? They tasted just as good! I am sharing this recipe with you because I know you will love it just as much as I did.

Rings And Things

rings

Anyone who knows me pretty well is definitely aware of my love for rings. These little tiny beautiful pieces can make any dull outfit look good. I think I am never going to get over collecting rings. I found these at Splash here in Jeddah and instantly fell in love with them. If I am wearing midi rings I don’t usually go for any other accessories on my hand because I let them do all the talking. A good glossy coat of nailpolish is a must though.

rings

Chunky/ Statement rings are another favourite of mine. Here I have teamed it up with a watch and a simple bracelet because I didn’t want my hand to look overcrowded and this is how I usually do it. Keep it classy!

Baked Figs

Serves 4

  • 8 fresh figs
  • ½ teaspoon of cold unsalted butter per fig
  • 1 teaspoon of honey per fig
  • vanilla ice cream/ whipped cream

  1. Preheat oven to 375°F or 190°C
  2. Cut stems off the tops of the figs. Cut a cross in the fig and gently open it. Be careful not to cut them all the way to the bottom or spread too wide, or they will fall apart.
  3.  Place the figs stem side up in a baking pan.
  4. Cut ½ teaspoon squares of butter from a block, or measure with a spoon (which is hard to do with cold butter). Put a piece of butter inside each fig, carefully so the fig does not fall apart.
  5. Drizzle 1 teaspoon of honey over the fig and butter.
  6. Bake for approx. 8-10 minutes, until the fig opens up.
  7. Serve with ice cream or whipped cream and drizzle the sauce from the pan.

I usually make this dessert when I am in a mood for sugar free sweet something. It saves me from all the guilt. It is super yummy and super healthy( minus the ice cream) and I’d recommend it to everyone who is low on the iron levels.

Forever and ever,

Samreen Ahmed
